Audio shitpost tutorial.

Posted by TheBestMusicMakerEvr - 4 hours ago

This is how I make my audio shitposts. So I’ve always made them in GarageBand which is a free DAW that comes pre-installed in every IPhone but you could use ANY and I mean ANY DAW since you could mess around in all of them but I’m explaining my process in this specific app.

So first I open GarageBand and click the plus button to make a new song.

After this is when I start to choose my instruments for the song in this screen right here.iu_1420407_22817172.png

Now usually I go with the drums first so I’ll explain that. Now there are 3 layouts that the drums present themselves so I’ll explain all 3 and how I’ve used them before.

Electric drums:iu_1420409_22817172.png

Beat sequencer:iu_1420410_22817172.png

So first the acoustic drums, I either try to make a grove that’s typical for the acoustic drums while still messing around at some parts. Same for the electric honestly. I mean there’s no limits on how to mess around so just do whatever you want. For the best sequencer tho no matter what I do it still sounds kinda good so I try not to spam many notes and try at least a little bit.

Now for the synths and other instruments. I usually just pick any random synth it does not matter which you choose it can be any.

GarageBand gives a TON of options so here’s a taste on some of the categories available for synths. Now I open one up and access the piano roll.

After that I press the red button and record. I just swipe my fingers chaotically all over the piano roll maybe occasionally switching octaves with the left and right arrows on the left side of the screen. Then if I wanna use a pad for chords I either pick another random pad and just play random chords or I press the button next to the arpeggiator (the button that looks like a upside down v made of rectangles) and open up the chords.

I then play random chords in any order in whatever key I choose. (Key tempo song length etc will all be explained at the end)

after that maybe I’ll use a bass or guitar.

This is what the guitars look like in GarageBand and the bass is basically the same except it only had 4 strings. So the process is the same with the synths. I press record then i just play remain notes maybe I’ll slide or bend but in the end it’s just me messing around. After all of this I see all in instruments laid all out on this screen.

Here is where I listen to everything and adjust any instrument or delete/replace anything. Also on this screen you can decide the tempo key time signature and length on this screen. The gear button is for key tempo and time signature plus other stuff.

The plus button on the end of the bars is for length/sections.

Again though all of this doesn’t really magnet you can put all of these randomly or maybe or purpose idc. Then after all of this you’re done. Maybe you could add a sample I mean I’ve done that before but it’s not really necessary so I’ll just not bother to explain because importing stuff in GarageBand is kinda complicated so yeah. Enjoy ruining the ng audio space!

(of course you can still make serious stuff please don’t just post for the sake of ruining ng cuz of course that last sentence was a joke ok bye)

Uh also here’s the example piece:
